But yes, it is weird how slow some things are, and in some cases completely absent in spite of being apparently straightforward. Domestic automation is a glaring example.Amandahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/12934161327550226154noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-462410289206831787.post-70727153923480899182012-01-17T12:53:59.016-08:002012-01-17T12:53:59.016-08:00http://www.amazon.co.uk/Handbook-Space-Pioneers-St...http://www.amazon.co.uk/Handbook-Space-Pioneers-Stephen-Wolfe/dp/0448161850

Your description reminds me a little of the Canopus in Argus series by Doris Lessing although there is a plot line there. I am for ever by how long it takes for the most obvious things to happen, why have we only got decent smart phones now and TVs that can get the internet, although they are not very good, would have thought they would have been available 15 years ago.Mairehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/00516412983740136098noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-462410289206831787.post-43861272035149317442012-01-17T06:22:44.316-08:002012-01-17T06:22:44.316-08:00I would imagine toilets are of particular importan...I would imagine toilets are of particular importance. Not just for waste reticulation, but all that intestinal flora and fauna may account for a lot of entropy reversal. This may be important in the deeper reaches of space where I speculate entropy control becomes an important part of reality maintainence.LtFrankhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/04292222779739975102noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-462410289206831787.post-43776973647855922192012-01-16T03:46:20.005-08:002012-01-16T03:46:20.005-08:00I'll take a look, Vanilla. Incidentally, the Venusian airship toilets are an important part of the design but it'll be a while before that story sees the light of day unfortunately.Amandahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/12934161327550226154noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-462410289206831787.post-38149973261988296102012-01-15T12:54:57.651-08:002012-01-15T12:54:57.651-08:00The starship absolutely has to have toilets, unlik...The starship absolutely has to have toilets, unlike any on "Star Trek".Vanilla Rosehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/07946634138308342764noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-462410289206831787.post-48321718366850000572012-01-14T13:53:09.826-08:002012-01-14T13:53:09.826-08:00Thanks. There are spatial issues in a lot of this and it sounds like you'd be addressing those, or at least, if i was writing something similar i would address them. Just so I can comment on this interesting blog. I was/am in the process of writing a bit about 12 generational ships sent from our humble abode. I was/am considering the ramifications of isolation of each ship from a common starting point, in all aspects of life. It is important that they are measured from this common starting point, which we (the reader) can identify with. It is an interesting plot device that can investigate several futures for ourselves. I now, obviously, have to read the above mentioned book. I chose twelve to give two ships for each side of a cube (3d). Eight is also an interesting number, in a sides v edges v vertices way. Anyway I share this not in vanity, but rather in collaboration. Education is fundamental, because the children are fundamental. It is interesting to explore this in static environments, environments with linear change, and environments with exponential change.

Great blog BTW.
banLtFrankhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/04292222779739975102noreply@blogger.com
